Germany called condition for production of Russian vaccine in EU

The production of the Russian vaccine against the Sputnik V coronavirus in European Union is possible in that case if the drug is approved by the European Medicines Agency (EMA). Such a condition was called by the deputy official representative of the Cabinet of Ministers of Germany Ulrike Demmer , her words are quoted by TASS .

“If we talk about the production capacity in Europe for the Russian vaccine, then this is possible only if the EMA allows this drug,” Demmer said at a briefing on Wednesday, December 6. She did not specify whether such a request was received by the European regulator.

Earlier, the European Medicines Agency approved the use of a vaccine against coronavirus in the EU by Moderna. Prior to that, on December 21, the European Union allowed the use of the Pfizer vaccine, and since December 27 vaccination has begun in the countries of the union.

There are currently several COVID-19 vaccines in the world. So, in Russia two vaccines are registered: “Sputnik V” and “EpiVacCorona”. On December 5, Moscow started vaccination against coronavirus with Sputnik V. The United States also began to vaccinate the population with drugs from Pfizer / BioNTech and Moderna. Pfizer and AstraZeneca vaccines have been approved in the UK.
