Ukrainian police have created a group to steal cables of state special communications

Two Ukrainian police officers were suspected of creating a criminal group to steal cables from the state special communications service (state special communications) in Kharkov. UNIAN writes about this with reference to the press service of the regional prosecutor’s office.

The prosecution assumes that the initiative to create the gang belonged to a patrolman and a member of the escort battalion. They involved two civilians in it and were engaged in the theft of wires from the departmental storage facility, as well as from the Ukrtelecom enterprise. The men have been stealing state property since the winter of 2020. A criminal case was opened against them on the fact of theft, committed repeatedly by a group of persons by prior conspiracy and associated with penetration into the premises. Now four suspects face up to six years in prison.

It is noted that the court chose the police escort in the form of round-the-clock house arrest, for the other three suspects – in the form of overnight house arrest. The prosecutor’s office did not agree with this decision and intends in the future to demand a more severe measure of restraint for the patrolman. The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) also joined the investigation of the criminal case.

Earlier, the SBU detained in the Lviv region a former military man who stole five multifunctional radio stations from a military unit and tried to sell them for 50 thousand dollars. Together with them, he intended to sell software, antennas and other components. The man’s accomplices have not yet been found.
