Lukashenka calls integration in post-Soviet space inevitable

The President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko called the strengthening of integration on the territory of the former USSR an inevitable necessity , BelTA reports.

“Strengthening integration mechanisms in the post-Soviet space is not a matter of choice, but an inevitable necessity. I believe that it will be possible to talk about benefits only when we fully unleash the potential of our Commonwealth,” Lukashenko said during an online meeting CIS Heads of State Council .

During its presidency in the CIS, Belarus intends to “focus on strengthening the role of the Commonwealth to improve the living standards of the population” and “solving the problems caused by globalization,” Lukashenko added.

Minsk plans to focus on the development of a common economic space, trade liberalization and minimizing restrictions, he explained.

Earlier, Lukashenko called a fire the current situation in the post-Soviet space and suggested to hold the next meeting of the heads of the CIS countries in the year of the 30th anniversary of the collapse of the USSR in Belovezhskaya Pushcha.
