Dmitry Kuramin, an expert of the laboratory for practical security analysis of Jet Infosystems, told about this to the Prime agency.
According to him, the owner of a smartphone should pay attention to how the phone works with the network. For example, all cellular operators currently use encryption for data transmission. “If the smartphone reports that the network is not using encryption, this is perhaps the most important alarming factor,” the expert warned. Also, a sudden increased network activity of a mobile application that a person does not use can become a cause for concern.
Kuramin added that there is an attack on the gadget with the substitution of the base station. To prevent it, you should install an application that compares the identifiers of the base stations with which the phone works with the list provided by cellular operators. In addition, the user can protect himself from mobile Trojans. For this, it is also recommended to download free programs for monitoring the connection to the base station and detecting fake virtual base stations.
He clarified that today there is no universal methodology for checking whether the telephone is tapped. However, in order to minimize this risk, you need to install and regularly update antivirus software on your smartphone.
