Lukashenka invited Pope to Belarus for treatment

The President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko invited Pope Francis to the republic for treatment, if he suddenly gets sick. BelTA informs about it.

The politician voiced his proposal at a meeting with the representative of the pontiff, the apostolic nuncio in Great Britain, Archbishop Claudio Gugerotti , who is now on an official visit to the country. “If he gets sick, let him not worry: we are ready to accept him for treatment, we know how to treat him,” Lukashenka said.

According to the President, the Pope is a truly “people’s man”. The politician asked Gugerotti to convey New Year’s greetings to the head of the church and a wish to stay healthy on the eve of the upcoming Catholic Christmas and New Years. “We have no time to get sick. But if anything, go to us right away,” the head of the republic noted.

Earlier Lukashenko accused the chapter of the Catholic Church of Belarus, Metropolitan of Minsk-Mogilev Tadeush Kondrusevich intending to” destroy the country “. The politician believes that the priest spied against Minsk on behalf of the Polish authorities.

At the end of August, the head of the Belarusian Catholics condemned the actions of the OMON, which locked the protesters in the Red Church in Minsk during the dispersal of a protest action. Later, Kondrusevich canceled his Belarusian passport and included it in the list of prohibited entry.
