A boat with more than 600 kilograms of cocaine washed ashore in the Marshall Islands. The Bangkok Post writes about it.

The police found the largest drug catch in the history of the country in an abandoned boat – we are talking about 649 kilograms of the substance. The ship washed ashore in the remote Ailuk atoll, where about 400 people live. There were no people in the boat.

According to the preliminary version of the police, the boat sailed from Central or South America: the ship could drift on the high seas for several years. The entire shipment of cocaine has already been burned. The police have left only two small bags, which they plan to transfer to the US Drug Enforcement Agency for examination.

The Bangkok Post writes that many other drug caches have been found along the Marshall Islands coastline over the past 20 years. law enforcement believe that smugglers could get rid of the cargo whenever they were in danger .
