Royal family friend arrested on teen rape charges

The head of the fashion corporation Nygard International, the Finnish-Canadian millionaire Peter Nygard, was arrested on charges of raping underage girls, according to The Guardian.

Employees law enforcement detained Nygard in the Canadian city of Winnipeg and detained him. The 70-year-old businessman has denied the police charges of violence, sexual harassment and human trafficking.

According to the publication, Peter Nygard, a friend of a member of the royal family of Prince Andrew, has committed crimes against women, including minors, for 20 years. 89 women joined the class action lawsuit against the millionaire who went to court on February 13.

According to the lawsuit, Nygard lured the victims to his mansion in the Bahamas, promising to arrange a job in a modeling agency, and then persuading them to have sex. The plaintiffs included teenagers as young as 14.

In February, Peter Nygard was deprived of his job due to the charges. It was reported that the businessman left the post of director of Nygard of his own free will, having lost the right to own the company.
