Scientists have discovered another symptom of coronavirus

A group of scientists from Iceland discovered another symptom of the coronavirus. So, according to the researchers, more than half of patients with COVID-19 had myalgia. The results of the experts’ work are published in the British Medical Journal.

Myalgia manifests itself in pain in muscles, tendons, ligaments, soft connective tissues, as well as bones and organs. This symptom was observed in 55 percent of patients in Iceland, who were examined from March 17 this year to April 30.

In addition, 51 percent of those infected complained of headaches and 49 percent of coughs. Fever and shortness of breath were less common than medics expected.

As noted by scientists, the signs of a mild form of the disease may differ. Thus, the majority of those infected report loss of smell, nasal congestion and headache. Such symptoms are typical of young people.

Earlier, therapist Elena Selkova explained what the loss can mean smell. According to her, this symptom can signal both a simple allergy and serious neurological disorders, such as Alzheimer’s or Parkinson’s.
