Huawei will release a PC on its own processor

Huawei has created a computer with a processor of its own production, reports Sparrows News with reference to posts on Weibo.

Huawei’s first desktop computer will be called the MateStation B515. The device will consist of a system unit and a monitor, the computer is positioned as a device for office work and home entertainment. The PC is based on its own Kunpeng 920 ARM processor, developed by Huawei subsidiary HiSilicon and manufactured by TSMC using a 7nm process technology. The chip will have four or eight cores clocked at 2600 GHz.

The system supports four DDR4-2400 UDIMM memory slots with a maximum memory capacity of 64 gigabytes and an SSD storage up to 256 gigabytes. The computer will be released with a Radeon R7 430 video card and a 180-watt power supply.

MateStation B515 will be released with a complete monitor with a diagonal of 23.8 inches, a resolution of 1920 × 1080 pixels, a viewing angle of 178 degrees, a color gamut of 72 percent NTSC. According to the source, Huawei plans to release several versions of the computer, differing in the amount of storage and RAM and other parameters. The announcement of the computer and the date of its appearance on the market have not been specified, but insiders believe that first of all, the PC will be available for government agencies and businesses, and then go on wide sale.

November 10, Huawei’s competitor in the IT market Apple presented the first computers based on its own M1 processor. The manufacturer has released three models – MacBook Pro and Air, as well as the Mac mini desktop computer. The M1 is a 5nm processor based on ARM architecture.
