Gluttonous dormouse grew fat and fell into a trap

In the British city of Ventnor, located on the southeast coast of the Isle of Wight, a gluttonous dormouse was discovered, which fell into a trap due to its own greed, reports The Sun.

The rodent climbed into the bird feeder, ate all the grain and grew fat to such an extent that it stopped crawling through the inlet. In this condition, 72-year-old Cheryl Hewins found him. “I was surprised when I saw this creature in my bird feeder,” she says. “It must have sat there all night and ate so much that it could not get out.”

The woman asked for help from the National Trust for Objects of Historical Interest or Natural Beauty. Foundation spokeswoman Catherine Holder determined that a dormouse was stuck in the feeder. In her opinion, the animal tried to eat itself before hibernation.

Sony are small rodents that resemble mice. In the temperate zone, they eat away by the fall and during the cold season they hibernate, which lasts about six months.

In 2018 it was reported that in the USA a hungry squirrel “danced” in front of the bird feeder trying to get food. The rodent dance was featured in a video posted on the Internet.
