Sunday, December 18, 24.08 million viewers have, on average out of the hundred and twenty minutes that lasted the final of the Football World Cup between Argentina and France, ceased to stay focused on A goal that has remained out of reach. An “absolute audience record”. This means that 81 % of French people aged 4 and over who watched television between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. were ahead of TF1.

At the crucial moment of penalties, at 6:53 p.m. precisely, the gauge even rose to 29.4 million viewers. The previous record (22.2 million), owned by the 2006 France-Portugal semi-Portugal semi-Portugal, is widely beaten. At the time, the audience outside the home or on smartphones and tablets was not yet counted.

a great winner of the competition

“All of France was on Sunday behind the Blues, and the audience share of TF1 for the whole day went up to 44.5 %”, welcomes François Pellissier, deputy director general of the channel responsible for Sports and business, also satisfied with the 14 million viewers who followed the delivery of the Cup, or the 7.8 million of the post-meeting program.

Wednesday, December 14, 20.69 million viewers (23.4 million at the time of the peak) had attended the semi-final which had opposed France in Morocco, or 66 % of viewers. If the French team ended up bowing, Sunday, in front of its South American opponent, its players will have allowed the chain, by accessing the final, to go out a large winner of the competition.

On average, 8.7 million people followed the 24 matches broadcast by TF1, a score slightly higher than that of 2018 (8.6 million). The audience recorded on BeIN Sports, a diffuser of all the meetings of the Dohannaise competition, is not yet known.
