FINNIX 125 Released with Live District for Sys Admins

The Finnix project has released its latest Live-Distribution version 125, which marks the 23rd anniversary of the project. The Debian package-based distribution is console-only and aimed towards administrators, providing a wide array of utilities to cater to their needs. The ISO image is available for download on the project’s website, with a size of 489 MB.

The new version includes updates such as the synchronization of the package base with the Debian repository and updating the Linux nucleus to branch 6.1. New packages included are 2048, Aespipe, Ipeerf3, NCDU, Netcat-Traditional, Ninvaders, and Vitetris. Additionally, the Apt Update command now allows for downloading index files for “Testing” and “Unstable” repositories, with “Testing” having priority.

The updated version also involves the Memtest86+ 6.10 package with UEFI support in the memory and the use of the 7zr program to unpack 7z archives (with the option to install P7ZIP-Full).
