The Russian government approved the concept of information security of children on the Cabinet’s website.
The concept approved by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin will act indefinitely. The main task of the concept is to protect children from various threats and risks in the modern digital world.
“On the Internet, children may encounter various dangers, for example, with attackers who, under the guise of peers, will find out the personal data of the child or ask about his family and use this information for manipulation for criminal purposes,” the government said.
To protect children from such dangers, the concept proposes to unite the efforts of the state and the parent community, to form and implement information security lessons in the educational process, to teach schoolchildren safe behavior on the Internet, as well as increase their digital literacy.
“For example, in such lessons, the children will be explained how to recognize scammers and how to do the right thing, when strangers begin to find out the child’s personal data or ask about his family,” said the message.
In addition, it is planned to conduct regular educational events for parents, teachers, employees of children’s and youth libraries and other specialists who are associated with the upbringing, training and organization of leisure for children. At these events, they will talk about the rules of the safe behavior of children in digital space and about the means of protecting children from information that can harm their health, as well as moral and spiritual development. In addition, it is planned to develop socially significant projects for children and adolescents in print and electronic media.
Regions are recommended to take into account the concept when organizing measures to ensure information security of children and annually send reports to the mincifers. The ministry, in turn, will submit a report to the government on the implementation of the new concept.
