China Seeks to Control Metavseli Users with Digital Identifier

Chinese state company communications China Mobile nominated the idea to introduce a digital identifier for all users of the metavsel and online virtual world. This identifier would contain information about physical features, social properties, and profession. The purpose behind this proposal is to enable the transfer of user data to authorities and law enforcement agencies in cases where users violate the rules of order in the metavselnis. For instance, if someone disseminates harmful information, deceives others, or performs illegal actions in the metavselnits, the digital identifier would help the police quickly identify and punish the offender.

The concept of this proposal bears resemblance to China’s Social Credit System, an infrastructure aimed at improving people’s behavior by evaluating and ranking citizens according to various criteria. China Mobile directed their proposal to the International Union of Electric Science (ITU).

However, concerns have been raised about the potential consequences of implementing such a system in virtual worlds. Chris Kremlinas-Kortney, a senior researcher at the Friends of Europe Research Center, expressed fears regarding the violation of citizens’ confidentiality and freedom in a metavselnaya controlled by Chinese authorities. As China aspires to become a leader in metavselniy development, the standards it sets can greatly influence the future. This raises the question for every government: do we want to live in a virtual world with a presence effect under Chinese authority?”
