The President of Russia has officially signed laws prohibiting the use of mobile phones during school lessons and introducing mandatory work classes. The corresponding document can be found on the official portal of legal information.

Under the Law “On Education”, students are currently prohibited from using mobile phones during regular classes, except in cases where there is a threat to the life or health of the students or staff members involved in educational activities, as well as in emergencies. Additionally, mandatory work classes will now be included in the primary and secondary school curriculum.

According to the documents, students will be required to adhere to the discipline and rules of conduct established by their educational institution during lessons. Teachers and school administrators will be responsible for monitoring compliance with these rules.

The law came into effect immediately upon publication, and the mandatory work classes for primary and middle school students will be introduced starting from September 1, 2024.

On December 6, the State Duma passed the law banning mobile phones during school lessons in its third reading.
