QBitTorrent 4.6 Released with i2p Support

QBittorrent 4.6 has been released, offering users a torrent client that serves as an open alternative to µTorrent. Developed using the QT Toolkit, QBittorrent closely resembles µTorrent in both interface and functionality. It provides various capabilities, including an integrated search engine, the ability to subscribe to RSS feeds, support for multiple BEP expansions, remote control through a web interface, sequential loading, extensive torrent settings, as well as bandwidth and IP-filter planning. Additionally, users can create their own torrents and benefit from support for UPNP and NAT-PMP. The project’s code is written in C++ and is distributed under the GPLV2+ license.

The latest release of QBittorrent, version 4.6, comes with several changes and innovations:

  • Experimental support for the distributed anonymous network i2p has been added. The i2p network operates in P2P mode, utilizes end-to-end encryption, and relies on network users’ resources to function.
  • There are improved support and a new interface for editing design parameters.
  • A dialogue has been added to allow users to edit tags associated with torrents.
  • The “Watched Folder Options” and “Automated RSS Downloader” dialogs have been added.
  • Additional icons have been included for use in dark design mode.
  • New torrents can now be added to the beginning of the queue.
  • A filtering option has been added to sort torrents based on their local file path.
  • New settings have been introduced, such as buffer size adjustments for sending and receiving, maximum file size for torrents, BDecode restrictions, behavior settings for merging trackers with existing torrents, terminating distribution of inactive torrents, and confirmation when suspending and resuming all torrents.
  • Proxy usage can now be configured when binding to subsystems.
  • A button has been added to copy the list of library versions to the clipboard.
  • The web interface now includes log logs, log file settings, a feature to rename multiple files, support for subcategories, and automatic linking to the network interface after connecting.
  • The RSS downloader now allows the renaming of rules, input of the RSS channel URL, and prioritization of RSS download rules.
  • For FreeBSD users, the assembly with D-Bus support is enabled.
