China’s progress in developing its navy, particularly in the creation of the latest ballistic submarines, type 096, is causing concern among the United States and its allies around the world. Experts in defense research suggest that China will be able to fully operate these submarines by the end of the decade, thanks in part to technological assistance from its allies.
Christopher Carlson, a retired submarine expert and military-technical analyst, expressed his concerns about the type 096 submarines, stating that they will be extremely hard to locate and pose a significant threat to any country.
Research conducted by the Chinese Marine Research Institute at the US Navy supports Carlson’s claims. The study, presented at a conference in May and published in August, reveals that the new Chinese warships will be significantly more difficult to track, making them one of the main challenges to global security in the coming years.
