After a difficult game start and despite a long-drunk offensive game, Lille woke up in the second half to dominate Brest (2-1) and temporarily seize fifth place in the championship, at the opening of The 25 e day of Ligue 1.

Lille, who remained on five games without victory against Brest (three draws, two defeats), almost saw this series extend. But, with this success, the DOGUES have 44 points, with a match in advance, one more than Rennes (6 e ) and five less than Lens (4 e ), their next opponent in the league. Important in the race for Europe, this victory was laborious. Leaving with the same offensive ambitions as since the start of the season, the Lille have been cooled from the 8th e minute by the opening of the Brest score.

At the fallout of a corner in the Lille surface, Tiago Djalo pushed the ball into his own nets, giving the advantage to Finistériens. Lille then tried to find her football, possession of the ball and play forward, but his domination has long remained sterile. The score remained unchanged until the break, despite a clear possession to the advantage of Lille in the first half (67 %).

Paulo Fonseca excluded

The fault, mainly, to unusual technical waste for this team which counts on several masters to play, starting with André Gomes and Rémi Cabella. The fault, too, to an ounce of bad luck, since in the 29 e minute, Jonathan David saw his strike fail on the transverse bar of the Brest goalkeeper, Marco Bizot. The minutes that followed saw the spirits warm up, a tension remained until the final whistle.

It was on corner that they had been punished, it is on corner that the Lille took revenge. At the 60 e minute, first, when Bafodé Diakité rose above everyone to propel a powerful head at the bottom of the nets. Then, at the 80 minute, it is another defender, Alexsandro, who doubled the brand, on corner also.

Brest, who has failed to make himself dangerous to try to pick up the score, signs a bad operation. With 20 points, they remain frozen at 16 e rank, only one point in front of the first relegation, Troyes (17 e ). At the very end of the match, players from both workforce hung on in the Brest camp. The coaches of the two clubs, Olivier Roy and Paulo Fonseca, have been flown for a long time, head against head. The referee ended up excluding the latter, who had for this match hanging a yellow and blue ribbon to his coat, a year to the day after the start of the Russian invasion in Ukraine.
