US military is investigating data leakage from Pentagon cloud server

The US Special Operation Forces command (SOCOM) investigates the circumstances of the data leakage from the Pentagon cloud mail server.

Data of 3 TB data was discovered by an independent cybersecurity researcher Anurag Sep February 8. Data samples included standard information about the US military contracts and the requests of employees of the Ministry of Defense to process their documents.

The server was available on the Internet without a password, so anyone who knew the server IP address could gain access to data without the need to enter a password. At the moment, the server is protected. Socom clarified that the Pentagon systems were not hacked.
