Moldova President Maya Sandu believes that active cyber attacks of Russian hackers are directed to overthrow the Government of Moldova. Sandu also at the Munich Security Conference said that she needed various support from other European countries to maintain power.
President Sandu said that Russia was “waging a hybrid war against Moldova”, including through “propaganda and misinformation”, “multiple cyber attacks” and “false messages about bombs”. According to her, these actions are designed to provoke protests and lead to a public coup.
Recall that recently the sites of state institutions of Moldova were subjected to large -scale cyber attacks, and in November 2022, a leak of the compromising correspondence of two politicians Moldova caused a large political scandal and protests in Moldova.
President Sandu called on his European colleagues to support Moldova during the crisis. “Due to the internal threats of a hybrid war, we need support for the development of our strategic intelligence capabilities; to combat cyberosis; for the modernization of our border safety and control. This is a very big problem. Now this is probably the most destructive element for our society and our democracy “, – said Sandu.
