Pierre Alessandri, 64, including almost twenty-four years in prison under the status of particularly monitored detainees (DPS), was placed in probationary semi-freedom. Tuesday, January 31, the Paris Court of Appeal responded favorably to its request. Almost twenty-five years after the assassination of the prefect Claude Erignac on February 6, 1998 in Ajaccio, one of his authors sentenced in July 2003 to life imprisonment, benefits from a “probationary semi-liberty measure parole for a period of one year, “said the court of appeal. This measure will take effect from February 13. Unless incident, this semi-liberty will lead to “a parole regime, for a period of ten years”, adds the court.

Incarcerated in May 1999, Pierre Alessandri has been released since 2017. After having suffered three discharges from the Court of Appeal – while in the first instance the tribunal for the anti -terrorist penalties had each time made a favorable opinion to His requests -, Pierre Alessandri wins. In addition to these requests filed by his lawyers in a strictly judicial framework, the Corsican elected officials of all obediences and representatives of the island civil society had also mobilized so that justice applies the law. A company specializing in the development of the Rural Space of Ponte-Novo (Haute-Corse) should accommodate Pierre Alessandri throughout his period of reintegration.

Until today the Court of Appeal has motivated these refusals arguing “risks of disturbances to public order” that a possible parole runs, and “the serious attack on the nation” that had formed the assassination of the prefect. But in October 2022, first victory and glimmer of hope for Alessandri and his defenders: considering that the Court of Appeal had not “justified his decision”, the Court of Cassation had canceled one of the judgments of the court D ‘Call.

Enamelled demonstrations of violence

At the end of March 2022, Jean Castex, then Prime Minister, had relieved the prison fate of Alessandri. Faced with demonstrations in Corsica, he had raised the status of DPS of Alessandri as well as that of Alain Ferrandi, also sentenced for the assassination of the prefect. This decision followed the announcement of the deadly assault of Yvan Colonna at the Arles power station (Bouches-du-Rhône) where the Corsican detainee, also sentenced to perpetuity for the assassination of the prefect Erignac, served his sadness. On the island, his death had caused great emotion. Throughout the month of March, demonstrations enamelled with violence and confrontation with the police had hit the headlines.
