looking at the sky or the big screen is the same gesture: “When you go to the cinema, you raise your head. When you watch television, you lower it,” said Godard. The creation of the Science Fiction Festival (SF) The Myceliades, whose first edition has the theme of the exploration of space, is first of all a call to leave tablets, computers and smartphones to open the horizons.

The event, which will take place from the 1 er on February 15 in more than fifty cities in mainland France and overseas (Mayotte, New Caledonia, Guadeloupe, Martinique), was Emphaulated in 2021, at the end of the pandemic of COVVI-19, by the National Center for Cinema and the Animated Image (CNC): the goal is to reconnect the young generation (15-25 year olds) to the joys of the seventh art , and at the frequentation of media libraries.

Decentralized, the event was designed by a quartet (joint) of culture professionals: two of them come from the National Association for the Development of Cinema in Regions (ADRC), an emanation of the CNC which Ensures the circulation of films on the territory, and the other two of the Images in libraries association, which brings together a thousand structures around mediation and image education.

projections , discussions, workshops …

In the field, the festival is organized by operators and librarians, from a selection of twenty-seven films, in which they freely draw: the range is wide, from the moon trip (1902) , from Georges Méliès, to Gravity (2013), from Alfonso Cuaron, passing by 2001, the Odyssey of Espace (1968), Stanley Kubrick, Proxima (2019), Alice Winocour, or Gagarin ( 2021), by Fanny Liardard and Jérémy Trouilh – a small handful of directors are playing…

Myceliades will mix projections, discussions around films, writing workshops with SF authors (Sylvie Lainé, in Lyon, February 4), video games, etc. In Sainte-Luce, in Martinique, an escape game (escape game) was even installed between the cinema and the media library. “We realized that the 15-25 year olds are not really partitioned in their practices, says Charlotte Bourgade, project manager at the Images in Libraries association. We therefore proposed to operators and librarians to work in synergy , and to build a real relationship with web influencers, to be closer to young audiences. “
