QBittorrent 5.3.0 Released

Published release of the torrent client qBittorrent 5.3.0, written using the Qt toolkit and developed as an open alternative to µTorrent, close to it in interface and functionality. Among the features of qBittorrent: an integrated search engine, the ability to subscribe to RSS, support for many BEP extensions, remote control via a web interface, sequential download mode in a given order, advanced settings for torrents, peers and trackers, a bandwidth scheduler and IP filter, an interface for creating torrents, support for UPnP and NAT-PMP. The project code is written in C++ and distributed under the GPLv2+ license. Builds of are generated for Linux, Windows and macOS.

Among the changes:

  • A transition has been made to using the libtorrent 2.1.x library by default, instead of branch 1.2.x, support for which is retained in the form of an option, since the backend based on libtorrent 2.1.x still lags behind in the performance of read operations, which leads to a decrease in the speed of downloading data from the client during seeding.
  • Added an option that allows you to interrupt distribution only when all set limits are reached.

  • To the torrent creation interface added an option to ignore files whose names begin with a dot.

  • A “Contribution” column has been added to the list of peers with information about uploads and downloads for each peer.

  • A metric for evaluating delays and time has been added to the statistics added waiting for tracker announcements.

  • To the filter context menu added the “Force start torrents” element to force the launch of torrents.

  • An “Open Destination Folder” button has been added to the interface to open the destination folder.
  • Added support for specifying multiple recipients of email notifications.
  • Added support for the “so” (select only) parameter in Magnet links, allowing you to select only certain files from the distribution.
