The release of the music player Fooyin 0.13 has taken place, offering expanded capabilities for customization and adaptation. Fooyin provides widgets and various modes for managing music collections and playing music, with the option to add additional features through plugins. Users can customize the interface layout using a configurator. Written in C++ using the Qt library, Fooyin is distributed under the GPLv3 license. Packages are available for Fedora, Debian, Ubuntu, and in flatpak format.
Fooyin supports playback of multiple file formats such as FLAC, MP3, MP4, Vorbis, Opus, WavPack, WAV, AIFF, Musepack, and more. Features include extracting track information from CUE files, gapless playback, playlist creation, filtering music libraries, tag editing, spectrogram visualization, and navigation at the directory level. External control is possible through the D-Bus interface MPRIS.
Key improvements in this release include:
- Support for playing and ripping audio CDs with file integrity checking and two playback modes.
- Enhanced music library with saved filters, song popularity statistics, and MusicBrainz metadata search.
