LibreOffice 26.8 Hits 1M Downloads in First Week

The Document Foundation released download statistics for the latest LibreOffice version, 26.8. According to the report, within the first week of its release, LibreOffice 26.8 recorded 1.031 million downloads through the official download page on the project website. It is worth noting that this figure does not take into account users who downloaded LibreOffice from standard repositories.

In comparison, the competing project Apache OpenOffice’s release, version 4.1.16, which was published last year, saw 601 thousand downloads in the first week and 1.805 million downloads in the first month. Despite Apache OpenOffice being in a state of deep stagnation, these numbers indicate a considerable user base for the project.

These statistics demonstrate the continued popularity of both LibreOffice and Apache OpenOffice among users looking for free and open-source office productivity software. The availability of these alternatives provides users with a choice in selecting the software that best fits their needs.
