MX Linux 25.3, a lightweight distribution, has been released by the collaborative effort of communities associated with antiX and MEPIS. This release is built on the Debian package base with enhancements from the antiX project and packages from its own repository. Users have the option to choose between the sysVinit and systemd initialization systems. The distribution provides in-house tools for system configuration and deployment. There are 64-bit builds (x86_64) available with Xfce desktop (2.7 GB), KDE desktop (3.4 GB), and Fluxbox window manager (2.3 GB).
Key updates in the new release include synchronization with the Debian 13.7 package database and an upgrade to Linux kernel version 6.12.107. Updated builds with Advanced Hardware Support (AHS) now come with Xfce, kernel 7.2 with patches from the liquorix project, and Mesa 26.1.4. The MX-Welcome, MX-Tools, and custom-toolbox utilities have also received interface updates. Additionally, a Verify-iso-sig utility has been introduced for verifying iso images using a digital signature, and an MX-Theme-Colors utility is now available for creating custom color themes based on existing GTK skins.
