VirtualBox 7.2.16 Release

Oracle has issued a new release of the virtualization software VirtualBox, version 7.2.16, with a focus on enhancements and bug fixes. The update includes 9 changes aimed at improving the overall user experience.

For users running Linux on both guest systems and host environments, there are improvements in the shared clipboard functionality, especially on systems with Wayland. Additionally, support has been added for kernels 7.1 with the Intel FRED (Flexible Return and Event Delivery) mechanism enabled.

Specifically for Linux guest systems, issues related to the kernel package from RHEL 9.8 distribution have been addressed in this release. The GUI has been updated to display warnings more effectively for problems with importing images in the OVF format, and it now correctly handles inaccessible virtual machines.

Furthermore, performance enhancements have been made to 3D operations in the VMSVGA virtual video adapter, and a fix has been applied for hanging issues when stopping video recording after a large number of display updates. Problems assembling host components with OpenSSL 4.0 have also been resolved in this release.

These updates aim to provide a smoother and more stable virtualization experience for users of VirtualBox. For more information on the changes introduced in version 7.2.16, please refer to the official release notes provided by Oracle.
