The next weekly KDE development report has been published, highlighting some changes for the upcoming KDE Plasma 6.8 release scheduled for October 14th.
One of the recent updates includes the addition of kscreenctl, a new utility that replaces screen-doctor and offers a more structured command line interface for managing output devices. Functions such as detecting available devices, enabling/disabling outputs, and changing settings are supported.
Another improvement is in the built-in RDP server krdp, which now includes automatic session locking after client disconnection and unlocking upon reconnection.
Additionally, the Discover application manager now loads icons for Flatpak applications faster and includes grouping by operation and ranking by activity during operation progress display.
