Valve Developing NVIDIA GPU Support in SteamOS

In a recent interview with The Verge, Pierre-Loup Griffais, a creator of the Linux distribution SteamOS, revealed that Valve is in the process of adding support for NVIDIA video cards to SteamOS. However, this support is not expected to be available until next year. This move is seen as part of a larger strategy by Valve to make SteamOS compatible not only with game consoles featuring AMD GPUs, but also with regular gaming PCs that have various hardware configurations.

Currently, the SteamOS installer is primarily focused on installing the system on a separate drive or carrying out a complete wipe of the disk. There is no straightforward installation option for dual-booting SteamOS with Windows and repartitioning the disk. Despite this limitation, Valve has hinted at the possibility of such a feature being available in the future.
