CachyOS Distribution 260426 Released

Introduced the release of the CachyOS 260426 distribution kit, based on the Arch Linux package base, using a continuous update delivery model and popular among fans of computer games. According to ProtonDB, the CachyOS project is the most popular Linux distribution (21.1% share) used by gamers.

The distribution is notable for its inclusion of optimizations to improve performance and the ability to install different desktop environments. In addition to the base KDE-based environment, GNOME, Xfce, i3WM, Wayfire, LXQT, OpenBox, Cinnamon, Cosmic, Niri, MangoWM, LXDE, Mate, Budgie, Qtile, Hyprland and Sway are available for installation. The size of the installation iso image is 3.1 GB. Assemblies (2.8 GB) for wearable devices (Handheld Edition) with a GameMode-style interface and components for fans of computer games are supplied separately.

Included by default in the distribution task scheduler BORE, optimized to reduce desktop latency and increase the priority of interactive processes. The kernel and packages are assembled with the inclusion of LTO optimizations (Link-Time Optimization) and the use of instructions available in processors based on x86-64-v3, x86-64-v4 and Zen4 microarchitectures. When building basic packages, PGO (Profile-Guided Optimization) or BOLT (Binary Optimization and Layout Tool) optimizations are additionally enabled. Btrfs, zfs, ext4, xfs and f2fs can be used as file systems.
