Linus Torvalds accepted into the Linux 7.1 kernel, which is expected to be released in mid-June, a set of patches that remove Ethernet drivers from the kernel, previously recommended for removal by Andrew Lunn, who maintains network drivers in the Linux kernel. In addition to the initially proposed Ethernet drivers, the ISDN subsystem, implementations of the AX.25, CAIF and Bluetooth protocols are excluded from the kernel CMTP (Common ISDN Application Programming Interface Message Transport Protocol), as well as drivers yellowfin (Yellowfin Gigabit-NIC), hamachi (Hamachi GNIC-II), hamradio (Amateur Radio), inport and logibm (busmouse).
