A new scheme of fraud targeting Russian citizens has been reported by the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation. According to the announcement by the Ministry, fraudsters are posing as employees of the department and offering citizens a fictitious “application of the Ministry of Health” promising cashback for recent medical examinations.
Once the victim installs the fake application, the scammers provide them with a form to enter their personal data, ultimately gaining access to the user’s bank card information.
The Ministry of Health has clarified that they do not have any official applications for citizens. All digital services provided by the department can be accessed only through the Unified Portal of State Services.
