Hackers Expose Taliban: 50GB of State Secrets Leaked

The recent leakage of documents of the Government of the Talibana stirred the world community. Hackers published more than 50 gigabytes of data covering 21 ministries and the Taliban state institution, on the site called Talibleaks. Documents contain sensational information, including the names of political prisoners, as well as information on the ban on traveling for a number of civil servants.

Despite the seriousness of the leak, the Talibana government immediately refuted accusations of hacking the central database. The Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies confirmed the fact of leakage, but stated that the documents were most likely received from individual computers that were not provided with proper protection. This statement questions the safety of key information systems of the mode.

Among the affected departments were the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Finance, Justice, as well as the Ministry of Culture, Communications, Mining Industry and many others. The Ministry of Communications said that these documents, for the most part, were already publicly available and concern the events that took place in the past.

Nevertheless, Taliban officials assure that no system failures or security disorders have occurred in government agencies. Representatives of the regime claim that the leak is aimed at creating misinformation and confusion in public opinion.

As a result of this incident, the question of data security in conflict zones arose. The documents that have come to the surface can have serious consequences for both the internal policy of the Taliban and for its international relations. The proceedings in the case continue, and the world continues to monitor the development of the situation.
