Court Rules to Disconnect Telegram in Spain

The Court of Spain suspends Telegram messenger due to copyright claims from media companies

The popular Telegram messenger is facing a suspension in Spain after a court decision by judge Santiago Pedras from the National Judicial Collegium. The reason behind this move is the claims made by major media companies such as Mediaset, AtressMedia, and Movistar Plus, who accuse Telegram of using audiovisual content without proper authorization and infringing on copyright laws.

As a response to the request for precautions made by the media giants, the judge ordered the temporary suspension of Telegram in Spain until further investigations are carried out. This decision was taken due to the lack of response from Telegram about the requested information.

While the court has decided to suspend Telegram, the messenger app is currently still operational in Spain. The exact date when the suspension will come into effect is yet to be determined.
