US authorities are on high alert as the Alpha/BlackCat program, targeting the healthcare sector, has shown a resurgence in activity.
According to a notification from federal agencies, nearly 70 organizations, most of them healthcare institutions, have been compromised since mid-December 2023. The increase in attacks on hospitals is believed to be linked to the Alpha/BlackCat administrator urging partners to target medical facilities following law enforcement actions against the group’s infrastructure in late 2023.
Despite the dismantling of Alpha’s infrastructure by authorities, the group has managed to regain control by establishing a new data leak portal on the Tor network, which remains operational.
