Soviet District Court of Bryansk Finds Local Resident Guilty of Attempted Hacking

The Soviet District Court of Bryansk has handed down a guilty verdict to a local resident who attempted to access the systems of various state authorities of the Russian Federation using malicious programs. The court’s decision was announced by the press service of the Federal Security Service of Russia in the Bryansk Region, as reported by TASS.

According to the authorities, the individual was employed by a legal entity in the city of Bryansk. Using malware while at work, the defendant launched computer attacks on several IP addresses, including those belonging to state authorities of the Russian Federation. The purpose of these attacks was to obtain login credentials for the targeted systems, stated the department.

Following the trial, the court found the defendant guilty under Part 2 of Article 273 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, pertaining to the creation, use, and distribution of harmful computer programs. As a result, the individual has been sentenced to one year of freedom restriction.
