Russia’s Unsightly Form Displayed in Western Games

The Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Chernyshenko, has urged the development of Russian video games that accurately represent historical events. In an interview with RIA Novosti, Chernyshenko expressed concern over the distorted portrayal of Russia in Western games, stating that it often presents the country in an unsightly manner.

Chernyshenko argued that games require a significant investment of time and attention from players, more so than simply watching an interview. He pointed out that Western developers take advantage of this, manipulating historical events to create a false narrative. Military simulators, for instance, often present a biased depiction of Russia, tarnishing its reputation.

The Vice Prime Minister highlighted that leading Russian companies have already taken steps towards developing domestic simulators that combine training, competition, and gameplay elements. He emphasized the importance of the Fijtal movement, which fosters a new culture of personal development by integrating achievements in both real and virtual worlds.
