“We will oppose the tyranny imposed by the Taliban until our last breath,” flourished Monesa Mubarez, activist for women’s rights, in the streets of Kabul, the Afghan capital. This activist manifests against the oppression of women implemented by the Taliban since they resumed power in the country, a year ago.

Work and school are now reserved for men and boys in the country. An unbearable situation for Gulelestan Safari which was police until last year. She remembers how the Taliban “sent to graze” women who had claimed the right to keep their jobs by “promising to wear burqa”. “How long will women have to stay wisely seated at home” before they can return to the freedoms they enjoyed until last year, she wonders. It implores the help of the international community to “save them”.
