European Heritage Days: a 39th edition marked by “Sustainable Heritage”

é> edition: after A day dedicated to schoolchildren , the European Heritage Days began on Saturday September 17 for two days. almost 25,000 events are listed everywhere in France, with the theme, this year, the “sustainable heritage”.

“Now, the conciliation of the preservation of heritage and the construction of a lasting environment constitutes a major objective”, declared the Minister of Culture , Rima Abdul Malak, before the launch of these two days.

If the entries are often free, it is however advisable to book, underlines, for its part, the town hall of Paris . A little more than 700 events are planned throughout the weekend in the French capital, which also organizes visits outside the walls.

In 2021, the European Heritage Days had welcomed more than eight million visitors, spread over 15,000 sites . The government then noted an “intact desire” to participate in these days, despite the establishment of health restrictions. In total, in Europe, approximately twelve million people had participated in these events.

Furthermore, Emmanuel Macron announced, Friday, September 16, that the heritage lottery, launched in 2018 and intended to restore heritage property in danger, was going to continue for the next five years. Since its launch, this lotto has brought together 200 million euros, enough to save 745 sites in danger, said the president, during a trip to Guéret (Creuse).
