For some, the legislative elections begin on Saturday June 4. Polynesia and the French residing abroad – some of which have already been able to vote online – are expected in the ballot box this weekend for the first round of the ballot, Saturday for the American continent and the Caribbean, and Sunday for the rest of the world. In mainland France, the first and second rounds will take place on June 12 and 19.

The results of the eleven districts of the French abroad should be known on the night of Sunday to Monday, with special attention for the 5 e district (Spain, Portugal, Andorra and Monaco) . Manuel Valls presents himself in the colors of the presidential majority, but the outgoing deputy, Stéphane Vojetta (La République en Marche), intends to compete, denouncing the parachuting of the former Prime Minister.

Inaccessible gate

The residents of the foreigner who wanted it already had the opportunity to vote by internet, from May 27 to 1 er June, with a series of technical hiccups and criticism. Many said they did not receive, by email, the code to validate their vote, and the portal of the Internet vote of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs remained inaccessible for almost five hours, on the night of Tuesday, May 31 to Wednesday 1 June, just a few hours from the closing of the electronic ballot. The French abroad could also vote by correspondence.

In the offices installed in consulates and embassies, the second round will take place on Saturday June 18 and Sunday 19, second round in mainland France.

In 2017, macronists and their allies had won ten constituencies, losing in that of UDI Meyer Habib, including Italy, Greece, Turkey and Israel. In the second round of the 2022 presidential election, Emmanuel Macron won widely in these constituencies.

Largage by plane

On the overseas side, only French Polynesia – where 27 candidates appear in the three constituencies – also votes this Saturday for the first round of the legislative elections, before a second round on June 18. The nearly 206 Polynesian voters will start to vote on Saturday at 8 a.m. (8 p.m. in Paris), in order to allow, between the two towers, the electoral material in the five Polynesian archipelagos, disseminated on a surface as large as L ‘Europe in the southern Pacific Ocean.

“The routing of electoral material cannot be done if the deadline between the two towers is less than fifteen days, due to the geographic constraints of French Polynesia,” said France-Press Cédric Bouet Agency , Director of cabinet of the High Commissioner of the Republic, to explain this particularity.

Indeed, the atolls and the islands do not all have an landing track. This is the case, for example, of one of the most isolated islands in the world, Rapa, in the archipelago of the Southern. Or Tematangi and Hereheretue atolls, at the Tuamotu. The electoral material is dropped there at sea by a Guardian plane of the French Navy, then recovered by the municipal services.
