Demonstration of May 1: Ten months in prison for woman who had attacked a Paris firefighter

A 38-year-old woman, tried in immediate appearance in Paris, was found guilty on Wednesday 1 er June, to have attacked a firefighter from Paris during the parade of the 1st-May and was sentenced to ten months’ imprisonment, in his absence.

Also condemned to a year of prohibition to demonstrate, she will have to pay 700 euros to the firefighter under the moral damage and one euro to the prefect of police.

On the videos taken during the demonstration of the May 1st broadcast on social networks, we see the defendant, orange helmet on the head, try to tear off the fire spear of a firefighter turning off a fire lit by demonstrators. After several unsuccessful trials, she gave him two shots on the helmet before being mastered. The woman had been arrested one hour after the incident.

“She was determined”, she “passed her arms around me and my spear and she did not want to let go”, testified before the criminal court the firefighter, who was trying at the time of extinguishing a fire that was likely to spread to a residential building. “She told me several times” we will smash you as in 2019 “”, in reference to the demonstrations of the movement of “yellow vests”, said the firefighter.

Steps of her carrying a yellow or pose in combat trellis had been found on her phone. This isolated mother, already condemned in 2018 for acts of violence, did not appear in court on Wednesday.

On May 4, very proven, often in tears, she presented herself at the audience as “a trainer employee in the field of hygiene”, after being “nursing assistant during the covid”. His advice argued his psychological fragility and anxiety attacks and had asked for the referral of the substantive hearing, rejected by the president.

It is therefore in his absence and without representation of his lawyers – who left the room arguing that he did not have a mandate to defend it – that the substantive hearing was held. The president said that “nothing was confirmed”, neither the fixed-term contracts as a nursing assistant, nor the fact that she would be unemployed since 2020 or that she would have two sons. The prosecutor, who had mentioned “a reluctant person to the institutions”, had required eight months’ imprisonment.
