Like some countries, including several European neighbors, does France come closer to the lifting of the vaccinal pass? The answer is yes, if three conditions are fulfilled beforehand, said Tuesday, February 22 the Minister of Health, Olivier Véran.

In a hearing in the Senate by the commission of inquiry into the adequacy of the vaccination pass for the evolution of the CVIV-19 epidemic, the Minister detailed the three conditions in question. At first, “we should go down around 1,500 Covid patients in resuscitation, to consider that the normal operation of hospitals is restored,” he explained. Then, the R 0 reproduction factor of the virus must be “sustainably lower than one”. Finally, the incidence rate will have to be “quite low, around 300 or 500 maximum”.

Horizon released around mid-March?

If these three conditions are met, the vaccinal pass may be effective in “all or part of the places where it applies”, explained the Minister of Health. But on what date? The lifting of the vaccinal pass could be considered “within two to three weeks”, either around mid-March, said Olivier Véran.

Despite the lack of concrete data, Mr. Véran has also been convinced that the vaccinal pass has been effective in two plans: “It has allowed us to strengthen the protection of a number of places of brewing and Progress on the primo-vaccination of a part of the population. “The announcement then the entry into force of the vaccinal pass has indeed been accompanied by a rebound of the anti-Covid vaccination.

Olivier Véran has also referred to the health care that he has, according to him, demonstrates his effectiveness against the epidemic. He felt that this mechanism had avoided several thousand deaths related to COVID in France, citing estimates of the Economic Analysis Council (CAE), attached to the Government.

The CAE study, which mixed sanitary and economic considerations, has not been published in an independent review or relieve. Another study published in January by the Public Health Lancet and comparing different countries, of which France believes that the pass could revive anti-Covid vaccination but does not pronounce on the broader effects against the epidemic.
