This vote intervened as part of the examination of the Sport Bill Tuesday and Wednesday in the Senate. The text also includes measures on the governance of federations and the possibility of French football to create a trading company to manage TV rights.

The Amendment LR was adopted by 160 votes for and 143 against. It prohibits “the wearing of ostensible religious signs” during “sports events and sports competitions organized by sports federations and affiliated associations”. Senators Republicans (LRs) had filed in December a bill on the subject.

Opposition of the Minister of Sports

The Minister of Sports, Roxana Maracinenau, gave an unfavorable opinion to this amendment and put forward the republican commitment contract, resulting from the degree of separatism precisely, which must now sign the federations and associations.

Senators also voted an amendment to avoid “complacency certificates” that allow for EPS for other than medical patterns.

They also rejected another government amendment aimed at extending physical activity adapted to people with loss of autonomy. The text rapporteur, Michel Savin (LR), pleaded for the prescription sport, which is not borne by social security, either. “Before expanding, it would be necessary to pass the repayment stage in the first place,” he argued.
