At least 14 people were killed in Sanaa at night from Monday 17 to Tuesday, January 18, during raids of the military coalition led by Saudi Arabia in response to a deadly attack of the Yemeni rebels in the United Arab Emirates.

The coalition – whose emirates are members – which has been fighting since 2015 the Yemeni insurgents, has increased since Monday night reprisal raids on the capital of Yemen, controlled by the hush rebels.

The inhabitants of the capital released Tuesday the rubble, with the hope of finding survivors in the rubble, while two buildings were blown by the raids.

The rebels have, for their part, announced the death of a general, Abdallah Qassem al-Jounaid, director of the Faculty of Aviation and Air Defense. This manager was killed “with members of his family, a heinous crime committed by the Aviation of the Aggressor [the Coalition], who targeted his home Monday night”, according to the Rebel press agency, Saba.

The coalition, which had threatened Monday to “Riposter” to the “terrorist” act of the Yemeni rebels, launched new strikes on Tuesday on the capital, saying aim “camps and headquarters of the hush”, tweeted Saudi public television channel Al-Ekhbariya.

The Hushists affirmed Monday on their chain, Al-Massira, have “targeted with important and sensitive Emirati facilities and sites” using ballistic missiles and drones. In Abu Dhabi, three tanker trucks exploded “near the storage tanks” of the oil company of the city, leading to the death of two Indian citizens and a Pakistani, had, for his part, indicated Monday the official agency WAM emiratie, reporting six wounded.

The attack of the rebels opened a new front in the war in Yemen and further reduces the hopes of a settlement of the conflict, which has moved millions of people in what was already the poorest country of the Arabic Peninsula.

The coalition intervenes in Yemen to support the government forces against the rebels, which had seized the capital, Sanaa, in 2014. According to the UN, the conflict made 377 000 deaths, direct and indirect victims of a war that has lasted for more than seven years.
