France: tested engine for a new generation fighter

Aviation engine, which is intended for a promising aircraft of the new generation, was tested in France. The new power unit is based on the Dassault Rafale fighter engine, reports Eurasian Times with reference to the Defense Procurement Agency (DGA) of France.

The promising engine is developed as part of the Turenne program. The new model is based on the design of the Snecma M88 power unit, which is used on Dassault Rafale fighters. The engine is designed for the new generation fighter (Next Generation Fighter) over which Germany, Spain and France works.

In the DGA message noted that the engine prototype was successfully tested on the stand. It is believed that the thrust of the promising engine will be higher than that of the power units of the Rafale and Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft.

The publications stressed that the engine characteristics will comply with the requirements of the sixth generation fighter, which is developed as part of the Future Combat Air System (FCAS) program. The power unit will allow for a long time to fly in the cost-effective mode and provide craving for flight at supersonic speed.

Earlier, in the publication, Defence News suggested that the purchase of the American aircraft F-35 Germany threatens the European Union industry. Purchase of aircraft can prevent FCAS program implementation.
