Possible consequences of Europe’s new anti-Russian sanctions are rated

In Russia, a shortage of a number of goods is possible if the European Union has implies sanctions for exports and imports, the economist Nikolai Kulbak believes. In a conversation with “Ribbon.ru,” he suggested that the countries of Europe will suffer from this, but the consequences will not be serious.

Europe is considering the possibility of introducing sanctions against the Russian Federation also in the event of a limitation of gas supplies, this was reported in the Bloomberg agency. Kulbaka noticed that this decision could cause some damage to the EU economy, however, the main blow will have to be Russia.

Communication with Europe

According to the economist, Russia is a significant trading partner for Europe, because the exclusion of the country from these relations will create certain difficulties for the EU. Nevertheless, it is necessary to understand that most of the trading operations are committed still within the European Union, as well as with the United States and a number of other states.

“Russia is definitely an important direction. But it is still naive to deal with potential sanctions, all the more naive. Moreover, we have an example of our counterparts, the result of which it became only that Europe easily redesigned its export streams. But Russia lost part of the products, which gave rise to prices within the country, “said Kulbak.

Sanctions for export and import, suggested economist, will be quite painful for Russia and can lead to a shortage of a number of goods, price increases, reducing real incomes of the population.

“The fact is that Russia is quite economically related to all countries of the world. And, on the one hand, it is good because it is the only way to exist in the modern world. No country can live separately from others, this is normal. But, if Europe begins to limit trade operations, Russia will have to be difficult, “Kulbak believes.

What exactly the goods can be in short supply after possible entry, according to economist, say now quite difficult. First, because at the moment it is not known which set of products is planning to limit Europe. And secondly, in view of the fact that commodity markets in Russia are closely related to the resource relations.

“Of course, there will be any deficit groups and some groups of products. The price will increase somewhere, there will be no problems with the supply. Hunger will definitely not be, but the variety of products will decrease,” the economist believes.

Earlier, the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Britain Liz Trass said that London in the coming days can submit a project of new, more stringent sanctions against a number of individuals and legal entities in Russia.
