Lithuania refused to fulfill requirements of European Union on handling of illegal

Lithuanian authorities do not intend to fulfill the requirements of the EU agency (EU) to control the external borders of Frontex in relation to illegal migrants who arrived from the territory of Belarus, thereby carry out the open door policies. This is reported by TASS with reference to the Deputy Head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Arnoldas Abramavius.

As an official explained, Frontex was indignant to the practice of collective displacement of migrants from the cross-border zone and the failure of the security forces to deliver them to the checkpoint to arrange paper to receive asylum. The agency sent a letter to the leadership of Latvia with the requirement to abandon the ill-treatment of refugees and ensure their right to submit a refuge application.

“If we become all the detainees of illegals to deliver to checkpoints (CAT) so that they officially applied for asylum, it will be an open border policy, which is impossible due to the current situation,” said Abramavicus.

He added that Frontex really does not seek to help Lithuania in a situation with a migration crisis, but Vilnius will not remain without support if representatives of the agency respond their security officials. “They are able to do with their own resources of the border service forces, the army, volunteer militarized structures. 53 representatives of the fronx is not playing a significant role,” the deputy minister stressed.

The migration crisis on the border of the Belarusian and the European Union began at the end of May. Large groups of illegal migrants from Africa and the Middle East began to storm the borders of Lithuania, Poland and Latvia in the hope of getting refuge. The authorities of European states believe that the organization of transportation is Minsk, which uses its national tour operator “Centerkurort” to provoke a migration crisis and provide political pressure on Brussels.

On December 20, it became known that the representatives of the Amnesty International human rights organization accused the Belarusian and Polish security forces in cruelty in relation to the illegals. In particular, they revealed the facts to escape refugees by dogs, beating the butt and refusing to miss them into the country, despite dangerous weather conditions.
