France declassified archives of Algerian War

France’s authorities declassified the archives of court cases and police investigations associated with the Algerian War of 1954-1962. Reports about it Le Monde.

According to the Interdepartmental Decree, the materials of state archives created in the framework of cases relating to the Algerian War from November 1, 1954 to December 31, 1966 may be freely considered. According to the publication, without this solution, access to them could only be obtained after 75 years after military conflict.

Algerian War is an armed conflict between the French colonial administration and opposition representatives who fought for the independence of the country from Paris. In fact, the rebels were defeated in the war, but subsequently, France recognized the independence of Algeria.

December 16 became known that in the United States declassified the archive of 1491 new documents related to the investigation of the killing of the 35th US President John Kennedy. This is the information that the publication of which did not cause objections to the American authorities. The second part of the archive is planned to publish until December 15, 2022.
