In Russia, increase the combat effectiveness of MiG-31 interceptor fighters. The task of modernized aircraft will be the protection of the northern frontiers of Russia. This is reported by TASS with reference to the well-deserved pilot of Russia Major General Vladimir Popova.
“We plan to use high-altitude interceptors MiG-31 to protect the sovereign airspace of Russia in the northern directions, and there we are limited in airports and airfields – there are very few of them,” the task of the interceptor called Pops.
According to Popov, MiG-31 distinguishes maintainability and modernization potential. This allows the aircraft to be operated by improving its equipment. He noted that MiG-31 received a new radar station with automated target support systems.
Also, a military pilot noted that in Russia they work on the hypersonic missiles of low reliability. According to him, it will allow you to arm a MiG-31 with several ammunition.
Previously, representatives of the Nizhny Novgorod aircraft plant “Sokol” reported that the MiG-31 modernization triples the fighting aircraft efficiency. The company noted that the plane will receive modern radio-electronic equipment and will be able to apply new aviation means of lesion.
In March “Izvestia” reported to work out the interception of missiles with the help of MiG-31 aircraft. Sources of publication noted that the program of combat training included exercises to intercept the simulators of ballistic missiles.
