The installation of a charging point for electric vehicle will be mandatory in the United Kingdom in the new constructions and in the context of “major renovations” from 2022, announced British Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Monday November 22.

The Government hopes that 145,000 new recharge points will be created each year thanks to this new regulation, while the United Kingdom set the prohibition of sales of new petrol and diesel vehicles in the country.

This obligation will apply “from the next year” to the constructions of “new houses and buildings, such as supermarkets or workplaces” as well as for buildings under “a major renovation”, specified Prime Minister’s services in a statement.

The government adds to the construction of “more than 250,000” home refills and workplaces.

Attract private investments

Boris Johnson must express himself on Monday morning in front of British business leaders at the annual confederation of British Industry (CBI) conference, a business organization.

Just over a week after the end of COP26, Glasgow, Scotland, at the end of which he had recognized a certain “disappointment”, he must in particular detail proposals to help “sectors public and private to work together “towards carbon neutrality, including a loan program for small and medium-sized businesses or renewable energy projects.

The United Kingdom had brought together at the end of October investors and multinationals on the occasion of a summit to finance its “green revolution”, for which it set the objective of attracting 90 billion Private investment books by 2030.
